At the moment, DJ Hurricane embodies two of my passions in life: hip hop and writing.
First on the scene with Run DMC in the mid-80’s, Hurricane became the DJ for the Beastie Boys
just in time for their Licensed to Ill tour in the late 1980's.
Hurricane and the Beasties would make music together for over a decade.
Below is one of my favorite videos featuring four of my favorite people:
DJ Hurricane, MCA, Adrock and Mike D.
If you want to know what their lyrics mean, hop over to Rap Genius find out.
Then check out the rest of genius.com - this site is a visual display of how my mind works.
DJ Hurricane is a successful solo artist in his own right, who just produced some new new.
Here’s one of my favorite throwback Hurricane jams from ’95.
DJ Hurricane also happened to write a book recently,
“My Dreams Came True: (And Yours Can Too)”
The reviews are all 5 stars:
"This book is a real life look through the eyes of a true Pioneer in the Hip Hop Rock world... Cane used great imagery to take you back to the 80's and 90's to help the reader fully experience Hollis Queens... You can tell Cane is honest with his willing to help those who want to be successful... Cane proves that you can make it if you are willing to do the hard work and STAY FOCUSED. You have to make your own opportunities and seek the ones that open up. I recommend this book to anyone who says life is too hard." - Amazon, 9/2014
Sounds like my kind of book.

If you're in the St. Louis area and want me to get you a copy signed while I'm in Boston,
let me know.
One of the most fabulous people in the world, my buddy Mike, called me up the other day to inform me that Hurricane will be in Boston for a Meet & Greet, book signing, and special DJ set the second weekend in November.
Mike just so happens to live in Boston. Coincidence? Definitely not.
He’s always making things happen behind the scenes, and this event is no different.
I booked a flight within fifteen minutes.
So my next adventure is on the books.
Even though it’s a short weekend trip, I have a feeling it’s going to be full of
laughter, smiles, bass, and gratitude.
Escapades with my Beastie fam always are.
